Who is allowed to register?

Companies registered in the commercial register, public bodies and all associations and foundations are entitled to submit an application.

How long does the registration take?

The registry publishes the application for 20 days on its website. During this time, the registrar checks whether the application complies with the allocation criteria. If a formal objection is received by the registry during the publication period, or if a choice has to be made between competing applications, the time required increases.

Can my registration application be rejected?

The registry may refuse to register a domain name if, after examining the application, it concludes that the allocation criteria have not been met or that it is a name that can not be registered as .swiss.

Can I register fantasy names and generic terms?

In addition to Swiss corporate rights and registered trademarks, fantasy names related to the applicant (products, slogans, etc.) can now also be accepted.

New generic names such as hotel.swiss or watch.swiss can also be applied for.

Note the special requirements of such a name assignment mandate.
