Does my hosting have to be with Novatrend to use the product?

No. Novatrend Bot Filter & Geoblocking works via a DNS record and is therefore independent of your hosting. You can activate it for any domain, regardless of where the website is hosted.

What is the difference between Bot Filter and Geoblocking?

Bot Filter filters automated traffic based on behavioural analysis – no matter which country it comes from. Geoblocking, on the other hand, controls access by geographic origin, regardless of whether a visitor is a human or a bot. Both features are included in the product and complement each other.

Will Google and other search engines be blocked by the Bot Filter?

No. Known and welcome crawlers such as Googlebot, Bingbot or other search engines are recognised and pass through unhindered – unless you explicitly exclude them.

Can I block individual countries, or do I always have to select entire regions?

You have full flexibility: you can block individual countries, exclude entire continents or, conversely, explicitly allow only certain countries and block everything else.

What happens to a user accessing the site from a blocked country?

They receive a configurable response – by default, a neutral error message. The website itself remains unaffected.

Does the additional control layer slow down my website?

No – quite the opposite. Since unwanted traffic is already filtered at the network edge, server load decreases. In addition, HTTP/3 and TLS 1.3 ensure that connections are established faster than without the layer.
